01What structured learning means

We do not believe that a certificate alone makes someone a Yoga teacher, nor that collecting techniques necessarily leads to deeper understanding.

Prabhava 5-day Hatha-Iyengar Immersion, 2 to 6 October 2023

We believe that Yoga is best understood not merely by collecting techniques, but through a relationship between study, practice and experience.

Learning happens over time.

Our educational approach encourages students to:

  1. Practise consistently
  2. Study the foundations of Yoga
  3. Observe their own experience
  4. Understand the principles behind practice
  5. Ask questions
  6. Learn from experienced teachers
  7. Develop the ability to teach responsibly
  8. Continue learning beyond a single course

02What teacher education is

Teacher education, for us, is not only about learning how to conduct a class.

It is about developing the understanding, discernment and responsibility required to guide another person’s practice.

03Programme categories

Our programmes may take different forms, from regular practice and teacher education to workshops, intensives, retreats and study, but they share a common intention:

To create the conditions for deeper understanding through learning, practice and lived experience.

05How to choose

Whether you are beginning your journey with Yoga, seeking to deepen an established practice, preparing to teach, or simply wishing to understand these traditions more deeply, Pranava is a space to learn, practise and enquire.

A teacher bends over a student holding a plank, one hand just above the student's back to correct the line of the pose
A practitioner arches back over a folding chair in a deep backbend, hands and feet planted on the mat, another working on a chair behind
Two people place their hands on a third person's shoulder and back to adjust a standing posture while two others watch from the floor
A man in a light blue kurta sits on a low stool speaking, with listeners seated on the floor before him
Enquire

Begin where you are.

There is always more to learn.
